2. What this app is about

WoWerWas is a community for solo travellers and people who want to meet others locally. You create a profile, can create and join meetups, write in group chats and – entirely voluntarily – share your location with other signed-in users.

3. What data we process

User account

• Email address and password (stored encrypted) for signing in – Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Profile

• Display name, description, profile picture link, interests, languages, current city and length of stay (all optional except the display name). This data is visible to other signed-in users – Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Location

• Location sharing only happens if you activate it yourself and allow your browser to transmit your location. You can revoke it at any time via “Stop sharing”.
• We only store the latest position per user – no location history. Your location is only visible to other signed-in users who are sharing their own location, and disappears automatically after at most 15 minutes without an update. The legal basis is your consent, which can be withdrawn at any time, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
• Users you block (or who block you) cannot see each other’s personal location data.

Meetups, participation and chat

• Meetup data (title, description, category, time, meeting point with map), participant lists and chat messages are stored so other signed-in users can see them and you can find them later – Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
• System messages record changes to and cancellations of a meetup.

Reports and blocks

• If you report a profile or meetup, we store your report with its reason so it can be handled. Handling of reports is not guaranteed and profiles are not verified.
• Blocks are stored to spare you further encounters with that person – Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Hosting

• The app is operated by a hosting provider. When you visit the site, technically necessary data (e.g. IP address, time) is processed to keep the service secure – Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation).

4. Recipients

Your data is stored on servers of our hosting provider (Lovable Cloud / Supabase) within the EU. Other signed-in users see your profile data, your participations, your chat messages and – only while sharing is active – your location.

5. Retention

We store account and profile data until you delete your account or ask us to delete it. Location data is hidden or deleted when you revoke sharing, sign out, or 15 minutes after the last update. Past meetups and their chats remain readable for previous participants unless deleted.

6. Your rights

• Access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR).
• You can withdraw consent (e.g. location sharing) at any time with effect for the future.
• Lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
